Comfortable Dental Extractions
While Dr. Talluri always strives to preserve and restore the natural structure of your teeth, sometimes extensive disease, decay, or trauma may lead to a medically necessary tooth extraction.
Dental extractions may be required for a variety of reasons, including:
- Extensive tooth decay (cavities)
- Impacted or symptomatic wisdom teeth
- Advanced periodontal disease
- Over-retained baby teeth
- Severe crowding in order to help make space for braces or orthodontic treatment
We perform most dental extractions right here in our Melrose dental office, helping to avoid extra costs and time associated with a referral.
While it may be scary to hear that you need a tooth pulled, our compassionate dental team uses gentle techniques, modern technology, and more to make the process as seamless as possible. We're here to ensure our patients experience a pain-free extraction with minimal discomfort!
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Also known as the third molars, wisdom teeth are located in the very back of the mouth. They usually begin to appear between the ages of 16-25, and may start to cause problems as they grow, such as crowding, tooth pain, cavities, and more. If you or your teen are experiencing pain or discomfort in the back of the mouth, Dr. Talluri will assess the growth of your wisdom teeth to help you form an ideal treatment plan for maintaining your healthy smile.
Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics)
A root canal is a common dental procedure performed to help save your natural teeth from damage, infection, and the risk of tooth loss. At the center of each of your teeth is the dental pulp (tooth nerve). Infection of the dental pulp can be very painful and is caused by a variety of factors including: trauma, deep cavities, cracks in the tooth, or repeated dental procedures.
Teeth that need root canal therapy are not always painful, but common symptoms of an infected pulp include: biting pain, visible swelling, obvious damage or decay to the tooth, temperature sensitivity, lingering or spontaneous pain, discoloration of the tooth, discomfort that wakes you up in the middle of the night, or tenderness in the neighboring gums.
At our Melrose dental office, gentle root canal treatment is completed utilizing local anesthesia where the doctor removes the diseased nerve from the tooth. After the infected tissue is removed, the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Next, the tooth is built up with white filling material. A dental crown is typically placed over the large filling in order to protect the tooth and help prevent future damage.
While many teeth can be saved with root canal therapy, some teeth do require extraction if the chances of success with endodontic treatment are unfavorable or if complications become evident during or after treatment. Our dental team will perform a thorough assessment to help you discover the best treatment plans for your needs!
